The following acrylic paintings were inspired by music, and more specifically, the piano. Music has been a part of my life since I was very young. Most of my family was involved with music and I grew up playing the piano. Music was a common interest, and was something that brought us together.
These paintings were inspired by the aesthetic of the piano, and influenced by the structure, shapes, and colours of the instrument. I use many layers and textures in my work to emphasize qualities of movement and energy.
I chose a minimal color palette of black, white, and silver. While this combination provided the simplicity I was trying to achieve, it also allowed for a dynamic contrast. The shimmering effect of the metallic silver further emphasizes vibrancy and excitement.
A contracting company located in Aldergrove, BC, in need of a rebrand. Strong, professional, and knowledgable were key values that needed to be communicated. The group also wanted to emphasize one of their biggest projects to date, a bridge they constructed in Greater Vancouver.

Nocturne, Liquid Light on Piano Keys
For this piece, I got a hold of an antique piano keyboard. Using a process involving “liquid light”, and other darkroom techniques, I layered a photograph I took of the Vancouver skyline onto the piano keys.
A new winery in need of a fresh identity to stand out on the shelves. Guru Grape’s brand essence emphasizes taking time out of the day to relax and enjoy the moment. Simplicity, relaxation, and indulgence were values taken into account during the design process.

The following three photographs were created using the technique of light painting, and were inspired by my love of music. Music was a big part of my life growing up, and it has been one of the biggest inspirations in my artwork. I created these photographs in a pursuit to capture the vibrancy, energy, & beauty music can evoke.
The three prints are each 24"x36", Archival Inkjet Photographs on Metallic Paper, Face-Mounted on Plexiglass.
